During the month of January 2015 IPMA has carried out work for Hydrological Study of the project of a photovoltaic solar plant in the province of Cocle in Panama.

The works consisted in:

  • Hydrological study of the project, in order to estimate the magnitude and frequency of run-off produced by storms. For this purpose watersheds intercepted by the photovoltaic plant were defined, identifying the main lines of surface flow. The rain turned into run-off through the Unit Hydrograph Method. Program HEC – HMS of the USACE was used for this purpose.

  • Hydraulic study for drainage elements: calculating and sizing the system of collecting rainwater from the photovoltaic plant, avoiding to the posible extent of uncontrolled entry of water from runoff from adjacent land as well as restoring the lines of main flow intercepted by the plant.
